Lisa Benjamin began youth service in 1989 when she became the Adventist
Youth Director for Community S.D.A. Church. Lisa also became Pathfinder Youth Director in 1991.
In 1992 Lisa founded Hands of Praise Choir. The focus of Lisa's work since 1992 has largely been
connected with sign language, business management, service learning, mentoring and leadership
development for youths. Alongside this Lisa has had active involvement in education -
teaching deaf culture and sign language to youth groups age 10-18.
Lisa also having a great desire for youths not to become a statistic, but to realize
their greatest potential in areas of leadership, mentoring, community outreach and business
management founded Bridges of Silence in October of 2000. As the Director for Bridges of
Silence Lisa coordinates programs such as; Youth Mentoring Youth Pay it forward program,
Hands of Service (community service outreach), Hands of Hope Food Bank, and Hands of Praise Choir.
Expanding opportunities in service learning Lisa has led teams of students overseas to establish
the Giraffe House orphanage in Meru Kenya.
